I was getting ready to blog February and noticed that our February pictures seemed to be VERY focused on this little man! We all just kinda love this little guy! Matt just took his binkie away last week (actually...they lost it while I
was at women's conference) so I'm kinda feeling sad that this little
guy is growing out of all things baby lately. He is at such a fun age though and everyone just pulls the camera out on him any chance we can.
At the very beginning of the month we had a little bit of a scare with Isaac Matthew. He woke up one Saturday morning a little stuffy, and even breathing kinda funny! He was his usual happy go lucky self though so we didn't worry too much about it. In fact, he was kinda doing this funny giggle thing and we just assumed he had a cold and thought the feeling in his chest and throat tickled and felt funny. That is the only way to describe it. Anyway, that night Matt and I had gone down to Orem to go out to dinner and left the kids for just a couple of hours when Kaylee called and said she was really getting worried about Isaac. He was definitely having a hard time breathing and was doing the funny giggle thing again. We went straight home and sure enough he was really struggling for air! Our next door neighbor/nurse/Bishop's wife came over so we could get a second opinion on whether or not to take him in and right away she said do it.
Look at this baby though....he was happy and giggly like this all night! But we took him in. It was too late for our local instacare, so there was a children's instacare open in Riverton that we took him to. We showed up and saw that there was a sign that said there was a 2 hour wait. I'm sure we looked pretty ridiculous walking up to the counter with this happy, totally fine kid! We told them what was going on and they did send a nurse out to check his oxygen and breathing...with the intent of sending us home...I'm sure...but nope. We soon realized the happiness was really loopiness from the lack of oxygen. His oxygen was extremely low and breaths per minute were extremely high. They took him back right away to give him a steroid and a couple of breathing treatments!
They were pretty nervous and talked about possibly admitting him. But his little body responded to the treatments right away and they sent him home. FYI...Other than being bugged when the breathalyzer was right in his face...he was still so smiley and giggly...very weird! They sent us home with an inhaler and another steroid to give him 12 hours later. And that was it. We used the inhaler maybe twice...but really he was totally fine...not even a cold. It was really bizarre...but we were definitely counting our blessings. The Dr. said if it were to become a regular occurance it could be asthma or allergies...but (knock on wood) it never happened again.
Later in the month he did get a little 12 hour flu though. Yuck! I have no idea why I paused to grab the camera for this picture! Maybe to show Matt how lucky he was to have just left for work! :)
So...some more fun stories about this guy! I often find a pile of socks under his crib. Guess he hates wearing socks when he sleeps! (obviously not like his daddy...which is kind of a family joke!)
He LOVES light switches!
And hanging out with his siblings! Look at that cute binkie face!
The best part of our mornings is giving "love you signs" to the girls as they leave for school. We do it first at 8:00 when the big girls leave with daddy for school and work. An hour later Isaac is saying "love you signs" to Kierra as she walks across the street to catch her ride to school. This has become a fun little daily thing in our family...and Isaac has caught on very well! He is pretty cute! He and Thomas are starting to have so much fun together and his sisters just light up any time they are around him! He brings so much joy to our family! "Love you signs" to you Isaac Matthew!
